A Bolt taxi

On Monday, an unpleasant video of a Bolt Driver exposing himself to a female passenger was circulating online.

The video was shared by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and quickly evoked reactions from netizens.

"Parents, school girls, ladies, and all women in general. First, my apologies for posting this video here, but I want to bring this case to the attention of the public, especially female passengers who frequently use cab services. Some cab drivers (not all) of late have developed a habit of exposing their sticks/dudus/ mborores intentionally when carrying female passengers."

He then went on to warn women advising them to be cautious of vile cab riders before boarding cabs.

"This conduct should not be tolerated, and I urge anyone with more information or who has faced a similar ordeal to come forward so that we can protect our mothers, daughters, or family members. Let this video act as an educational and send a warning to young ladies to be extremely cautious before boarding cabs, especially when vulnerable or unaccompanied," he concluded.

Bolt, the ride-hailing company, issued a statement condemning the act and has suspended the driver from their platform.

"Bolt, as part of its zero tolerance to this type of behaviour, has suspended the mentioned driver from providing any further services on our platform," part of the statement stated.

Bolt stated they were committed to the safety of their drivers and passengers and would support their clients through such incidents.

"We are also actively engaging with the affected rider, and once again take this opportunity to express our sincere concern and empathy over this unfortunate incident. We remain committed to promptly addressing and continuously supporting our valued clients during such difficult moments...We remain committed to vigilance and swift response in handling such incidents," read the statement.
