Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday penned a sweet birthday message to his wife Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, acknowledging the support she has accorded him over the years.

The DP also praised Dorcas as the glue that holds their family together and wished her blessings as she turned a year older.

"Happy Birthday my love. You have been my pillar of strength and the bond that holds our family together.

"The nation appreciates your immense contribution, particularly in dignifying the boychild. Wishing you blessings on your special day," wrote Gachagua.

Pastor Dorcas chose to spend the day in Gatanga, where she grew up and organized a medical camp for the locals.

How Pastor Dorcas met Riggy G

In a previous interview with city preacher Kathy Kiuna, Pastor Dorcas said she met Gachagua during her student days at Kenyatta University through a twist of fate.

At the time she was suicidal due to a gas explosion in her mother's house which resulted in two children suffering severe injuries.

"On that day, I was wondering why I had done all these things for my mother instead of using the money for something else. She was crying because of it and I felt like I wanted to die," she said.

Dorcas was later invited by a friend to Kabarnet Gardens where the late President Moi had a function.

As fate would have it, Gachagua was the one writing down the names of the attendees and they exchanged pleasantries.

At the event, Dorcas was still suicidal and even attempted to breach security to be shot but the late President Moi promised to meet her.

It was through the subsequent interactions with the former President that she met Gachagua, and they began dating and later got married.
