Actor Van Vicker.

Popular Ghanaian actor Joseph Van Vicker, better known as Van Vicker, has finally graduated from university nearly two decades after enrollment.

The award-winning actor said on social media that he was forced to drop out of school due to a lack of school fees.

Graduating at the top of his class, the 43-year-old movie star said he could not enroll in a tertiary institution in 1997 because his mother could not afford fees.

Sharing photos of the proud moment during his graduation, Van Vicker said that he not only received his first university degree, but also an award as Best Communication Student.

“Twenty one years later, here I stand before you with three achievements; to God be the Glory. 1. First class honours. 2. Best Student in Strategic Communication. 3. Best Communication Student Award,” he wrote in part.

The actor, who also doubles up as a movie director said he publicly shared his story to inspire those who look up to him.

“The above is within the context of my 2021 post on social media and is in no way presumptuous, but to inspire. If Free Secondary High School was available back in the day, I would probably have graduated in 2000/2001,” he said.

The movie star who is also a humanitarian was quick to clarify that his acting career has flourished but he still felt the need to go back to school.

Van Vicker said that he will soon be completing his Master's Degree.

“My career took off and I have been blessed, but as someone who relishes education, getting that degree was just a matter of time. I complete my Master’s Degree programme this December. I thank all those who have supported me during this journey,” he said.
