Nairobi County’s women representative, Esther Muthoni Passaris turned 56 years old on October 20 and netizens cannot keep calm. According to her, she would rather spend her Mashujaa Day in praise and worship while counting her blessings.

"I'm 56 today. Birthdays for me are a day of reflection and appreciation, so I will spend #MashujaaDay in praise, worship and meditation, counting my blessings for the life I have been lucky to forge," she wrote.

Many could not get over the fact that she was turning 56, with some joking she looked younger than their girlfriends.

“You look younger than my girlfriend who is 19 and half years old,” a user identified as @MrRightke wrote while @wa_thoko was astonished, writing; “What? You look 30 happy birthday girl and happy Mashuja Day.”

Early this year, she faced backlash after blasting a Twitter user who criticized her for seeking medical attention abroad after undergoing successful spinal surgery at an Indian hospital.

“I flew to Ahmedabad, India on 31st December 2019 and successfully had Spinal Surgery the following day at CIMS Hospital. I thank God for the Gift of Life, my family for their unconditional love and everyone who whispered a word of prayer as I went in,” she shared.

This, however, did not go down well with a section of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) who felt that she should instead push to improve services in local hospitals.

“You should stop posting this because, how do you think people from slums feel yet they can’t afford Kenyatta National Hospital?” a user identified as George Gathecha wrote.

“What are you doing about it? Man up. I invested 50 million to be elected a leader. I served way before being elected. As a member of the Health Committee we’re shaping the president’s big four agenda” she wrote.
