Tanzanian singer Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa alias Rayvanny has released a new song dubbed ‘Corona’ featuring President John Pombe Magufuli.

Produced by Mocco Genius, the song possesses a slow and seemingly sorrowful flow with heart-gripping beats on which Rayvanny relays his message in the lyrics.

In the informative song, VannyBoy, as he is fondly referred, enlightens Tanzanians on how to avoid contracting the Coronavirus that has now been reported in many countries across the world.  

“Wote tumwombe Mungu kwa hili janga, ikibidi lipite, tujihadhari  na tujikinge ili lisitufike, habari kote duniani zimesambaa, ugonjwa unauwa na hauna tiba, na wengi wetu maskini hatujiwezi Mwenyezi Mungi ukawe tiba… Osha mikono, epuka mikusanyiko isiyo ya lazima, na uonapo  dalili mapema waii hospitali," sang Rayvanny.

After Rayvanny verse, President Magufuli is heard urging Tanzanians to adhere to the safety hygiene measures detailed by the country’s health ministry.

Magufuli noted that Corona is a deadly virus and implored the residents not to take the said measures for granted.

"Tanzania hatuwezi tukajiweka Pemebeni bila kuchukua hatua. Hatua zimeshaanza kuchukuliwa na waziri wa Afaya ameshatoa Tahadhari mbali mbali amabzo tunapaswa kuchukua. Napenda nirudie Ndugu zangu watanzania kwamba ni vizuri sana tukaendelea kuchukuwa tahadhari kwa nguvu zote. Ugonjwa huu unauwa na unaua haraka sana. Niwaombe Ndugu zangu watanzania tusipuzee ujongwa huu hata kidogo. Ni lazima tuanze kuchukua hatua za kujikinga na ujonjwa huu" says Magufuli in the song.

On Monday, March 16, Tanzania’s Health Minister, Ummy Mwalimu, reported the country's first case of coronavirus.

He said the patient was a 46-year-old Tanzanian woman who arrived in Arusha from Belgium on the afternoon of March 14.

On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, said Mwalimu, the patient was checked but found to have no symptoms of the disease.

The patient felt unwell while in a hotel and went to Mount Meru Regional Hospital and was found to have contracted the virus.

This was after samples were taken to the public health laboratory in Dar es Salaam and results came back positive for COVID-19.

The minister said the patient is stable and officials are tracing those with whom she came into contact after her arrival.

Public figures across the globe are urging their fans to also take the stipulated measures to keep the virus at bay. Nevertheless, several of them are stepping up to lend a helping hand in the midst of the pandemic.

Justin Timberlake took to his Instagram account to announce that he would be donating to the Mid-South Food Bank in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.

"Start small and support your local communities by getting food out to those in need." He wrote.

Donatella Versace, fashion mogul and her daughter Allegra, are also giving back to their native Italy which has been hard hit.

“Allegra and I have decided to make a personal donation of 200,000 euros to the intensive care department of San Raffaele hospital in Milan," she said.
