Tipped as the man to fill the gap left by singer Harmonize, Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) signee Mbosso, real name Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi, has opened up on why he values the label.
Speaking to Ijumaa Wikienda, Mbosso narrated that WCB under the stewardship of multi-millionaire hitmaker Diamond Platnumz took a chance on him when all had written him off.
Mbosso explained that WCB believed in his immense abilities, invested heavily on him and made the world recognize his exponential potential.
“Watu hawaelewi tu, ngoja niwape siri! Katika kipindi ambacho WCB inanichukua, kulikuwa hakuna mtu anayenihitaji yaani hakuna mtu aliyekuwa anaamini ndani ya Mbosso, WCB ikanichukua na kufanya asilimia kubwa ya watu kuniamini,” said Mbosso.
A narrative supported by fellow chart-topping star Rayvanny who in 2018 claimed that he was the one who persuaded Diamond to sign Mbosso.
“Mbosso na Lava Lava ni watu ambao walinikuta Wasafi na pia nilikuwa nawaambia msikate tamaa kila kitu kinaenda sawa. Na nilikuwa naongea na Diamond bana Mbosso yupo vizuri lakini hana Management tumsaidiae, mimi ndio nimelazimisha hadi Mbosso amefika pale,” said Rayvvnny during the ‘Jibebe Challenge.’
Mbosso was officially unveiled by Wasafi as its new signee on February 2018, a year after he went solo following the collapse of Yamoto Band.
An outfit he belted hits such as Nitakupwelepweta with Dogo Aslay, Enock Bella and Beka.
According to Beka, Dogo Aslay was the reason the group crumbled.
“Kile kitu kilifanya tujiulize kwa nini huyu katoa ngoma sisi wengine tukikaa kimya tutaonekana kama hatuna uwezo wa kufanya kitu, ebu na sisi tufanye lakini hatukutaka kufanya kama alivyofanya yeye, basi tukaomba uongozi wetu na kukubaliana, Mkubwa akasema mnakuwa mnajiongeza na kujikuza kwenye muziki,” Beka told Bongo 5.
