A police officer attached to Tala police post committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree branch in the outskirts of Tala town on Friday evening.
Constable Andrew Kiplimo, who is reported to have been undergoing treatment for depression at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital, used a t-shirt he had on to hang himself at around 5pm.
A police source said Kiplimo’s wife and another officer had held a meeting with him at the police post two hours before the incident and they implored him to quit drinking.
“The officer left the station while still calm but went and committed suicide near Katine quarry using his red t-shirt. No suicide note was found on him,” the source said.
His body was removed to Kangundo Hospital mortuary.
