A woman in the south-western part of Zambia is in police custody for dipping her daughters hand in hot cooking oil for stealing Sh384 (50 Kwacha).

According to Zambia Daily Mail, Catherine Kapeshi, 30, assaulted her seven-year-old daughter in Ngwenya Township, Livingstone.

The matter was, however, reported to the police by her husband Daniel Zulu, 42, a move that resulted in the woman being arrested.

Confirming the incident, Southern Province Police Commissioner Diamond Likashi told the daily that Kapeshi will be arraigned in court.

Mai Mahiu mother sews son's lips

This comes just a day after an enraged Mai Mahiu mother allegedly sewed the lips of her 10-year-old son as reported by the Standard on Wednesday, June 5.

The woman is said to have used a needle and a thread to sew the lips of the boy following his poor performance in school.

Her chilling punishment only came to light after word went around on social media.

“The incident occurred last week, but the school management and the relatives remained quiet until today (Tuesday),” said Mai Mahiu Assistant sub-county Commissioner Julius Nyaga.
