The body of a matron in Mumbi Girls High School was found hanging in her room. Joyce Mwinzi had worked in the school for 33 years.
In tracing her last moments, her colleagues said the 56-year-old attended a church service on Sunday and returned to her room.
Her two colleagues said they decided to check on her after she failed to report for duty yesterday morning.
School Principal Esther Wambugu said Mwinzi was scheduled to travel to Gatanga on Monday to join her family, as it was her day off.
Murang’a County Commissioner Mohammed Barre and Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said the police would investigate the death.
The cause of death was not immediately established.
