When it comes to raising children, each mum has their own parenting hacks, little things they do to make life a bit easier.

These are things you probably keep to yourself and don't tell people about.

But one mum has shared the rather unusual thing she does to her daughter at the end of each summer before her child returns to school.

Parenting blogger, Jess Roberts, also known as Modern Day Mumma, has revealed she pours tomato sauce all over her daughter's hair.

And it's fair to say people were pretty surprised to learn this.

In a post on her Instagram account, she shared a snap of herself squeezing ketchup onto her daughter's head.

She captioned it: "This is how every blonde finishes their summer holidays when growing up! Nothing like good old trusty sauce to strip the green out!"

It turns out this is a technique Jess uses to combat the nasty green tinge her daughter gets in her blonde hair thanks to chlorine from swimming pools.

Her post has had over 800 likes so far and many people have commented to say that they didn't know about this use for tomato sauce.

One person commented: "How did I not know of this."

Another said: "My mum would put lemon juice on my sister's hair."

A third wrote: "That's crazy."

"Never heard of it," added a fourth. "My mum used lemon juice or vinegar."

"OM I had no idea!!! Ketchup rinse tonight it is. Thanks for the tip," said another.

"That's hilarious," stated a different user.

However, not everyone was keen to try it out.
