After serving as the nationwide anti-jiggers campaign ambassador for over ten years, former Miss World Kenya Cecilia Mwangi has launched her foundation that will carry humanitarian activities.
The self-titled Cecilia Mwangi Foundation was officially launched at the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) headquarters, Nairobi, where she was also presented with the foundation’s certificate by Mr Fazul Mahamed Yusuf, the executive director of the NGO co-ordination board.
The conference that was also attended by a number of former and present Miss World Kenya crown holders saw Cecilia unveil her strategic plan for her charity undertaking, a nationwide activity that will see her help empower with the less fortunate in the society especially women and children.
''I am glad that through the Cecilia Mwangi Foundation, people will now be able to see what I have been involving myself in directly and that it has finally bore fruits. This is an extension of my contribution to charity. I plan on involving all the beauty queens in this new project and together we shall all make it,” she said during the press conference.
Among the activities in her plan is undertaking healthcare programs in communities, providing technological solutions among the youth and advocating for basic knowledge in health and hygiene issues through projects alongside other stakeholders.
“I have set up a team that will be working with me and we will be working closely with the central government as well as leaders in various counties to ensure that our goals are met,” she remarked.
“This does not mean I will stop working with the anti-jiggers trust. If anything, I will only be enhancing my services in this projects as it is part of the health projects we will be sphere heading as Cecilia Mwangi Foundation,” she added.
