Former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Luis Figo has reportedly had Ksh 53 million worth of jewellery stolen from his home in the Spanish capital.

A Madrid police source told Europa Press that the ex-Portugal international's home was ransacked by thieves who took luxury watches and other items of jewellery.

Figo reported the incident to a police station in Hortaleza and an investigation is now underway.

It is the second time Figo's house has been robbed, following an incident in 2003 when three armed men broke into his home and looted several valuables.

Figo, widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, also played for Sportng Lisbon and Inter Milan during his glittering career.

He controversially crossed the Clasico divide in 2000 when he swapped the Nou Camp for the Bernabeu for a then world record Ksh 6 billion fee.

Figo made 127 appearances for Portugal, scoring 32 goals.
