Hardly a few days after releasing his much-anticipated song and video Wewe Ni Mungu, Daddy Owen has now been accused by a section of music fans from the diaspora of plagiarizing South African gospel musician song Kgotso Messiah sang in Zulu in 2012.
A fan from the diaspora posted on a social media platform: “ I was enjoying the song until I realized that Daddy Owen’s song is a copy of Kgotso Messiah. Sang in Zulu in 2012.”
When contacted Daddy Owen denied having copied anyone’s song saying it was a ploy by a section of people to tarnish his name and career through bad press.
Speaking to SDE he said: “It is sad there is always a section who will never say anything positive about you as long as you are doing well. Truth is, what I am doing at the moment is all for the Glory of God and hence I am bound to face challenges from opposition. The fact that the songs may have some similarity in beats or even chorus doesn’t mean that I have copied anyone’s song.
When all is said and done it is up to our readers to decide where the truth lies.
