The survival of mankind hangs in the balance when the merciless god of darkness known as Set seizes Egypt’s throne and plunges the prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. Hoping to save the world and rescue his true love, a defiant mortal named Bek forms an unlikely alliance with the powerful god Horus. Their battle against Set and his assistant takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens for an epic confrontation.

Thumbs Up

You will enjoy the movie if you have a penchant for gods transforming into animal/wing liked creatures. Gerald Butler played his role well, but with his supporting characters and failing to keep up, the wow factor was lost.

Thumbs Down

Much though was not put in the casting for in as much as the movie is a fantasy action movie set in Egypt mythology, the cast is predominantly white. Additionally, it has been entrusted with too much Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), that was unconvincing an eyesore to say the least. It is unnecessarily lengthy mainly due the needless subplots. Besides the subplots, the movie’s pace was unbalanced and the dialogue seemed coerced or sloppy at its best.

Verdict

There is so much more to Egypt mythology besides love transcending death and gods living with mortals which the movie could have explored. The least engaging movie of 2016, is all I can say.
