Renowned Kalenjin secular musician Diana Chemutai Musila aka Chelele was admitted to Nakuru General Hospital on October 3 after she allegedly attempted to commit suicide. It is reported that she was found unconscious in a hotel in Nakuru after she informed her friends of her intentions.

In an interview with The Nairobian, Chelele’s sister, Brenda Chebet, confirmed that, “The singer was indeed hospitalised after attempting suicide and she regrets the incident.”

She explained that, “The suicide attempt was disturbing, not only to us as a family, but also the entire music fraternity. We are however relieved that she is now well and has been discharged from hospital and is back with her family,” she said. Sources close to her claim that the Pusurability singer is dealing with marriage and legal battles.

One of Kalenjin Music Association (KAMU) directors, Bernard Lang’at, said, “Plans are underway to guide and counsel her on how to manage personal issues. We are concerned about her wellbeing and her future and as an association, we want her to continue with her creative work of entertaining her fans,” Lang’at said in an interview with The Nairobian.

The director added: “What she has been going through has come to our attention and we can no longer watch and wait for her to kill herself. The issues haunting her can be managed and she does not necessarily have to kill herself.”
