A 15-year-old boy has quit Maseno School after he was allegedly sodomised by someone in a white, long-sleeved shirt.
That is the uniform worn by form three and four students. He says he saw three other people accompanying the culprit as he left the dormitory.
“It was around midnight on May 28 when the man entered my room, sodomised me and ran away,” said the boy whom we cannot name because he is a minor.
He said he could not raise the alarm as his masked assailant covered his mouth and a friend who sleeps on the lower deck was absent. The boy who scored 375 marks to gain admission at the prestigious national school on a county scholarship says he decided not to tell his class teacher as he was “at a loss on how to bring up the matter.”
He vowed not to go back to the school. He said the incident, which was preceded by theft of mattresses, bedsheets, blankets, shoes and a shirt in the first term which his parents replaced, has affected him psychologically.

The boy’s mother, Dama Karisa*(not her real name), accused the school’s management of unwillingness to solve the problem and arrest the culprits.
“I’ll get him a school but his future is destroyed. Maseno is a good school. We had hopes that he would perform well like his elder brother and join university but we fear that might never come to pass,” said the mother.
Maseno School principal, Paul Otula, refused to comment on the matter.
“The best person to talk to is the Kisumu District Education Officer,” Otula said.
