The urge to cheat is so strong that only the strongest men can resist when presented with the opportunity. Philanderers will scale walls, plead on their knees, cajole and even issue threats just for a taste of the forbidden fruit. However, when nailed, some of the antics cheats engage in can make for great comedy.

Once caught, say by a spouse, you will be surprised at the lame and often ridiculous excuses they will give. Some either act mad, turn violent or come up with excuses so weird that they can make the devil himself gasp, ‘Oh, my God’ in shock.

The person who was so bold and eloquent a few moments ago, will turn childish or cower behind silly excuses to extricate themselves.

In particularly, men seem to have borrowed a leaf from rapper Shaggy’s popular hit song, ‘It wasn’t me’. In the song, the singer repeats his famous refrain, which is also the title of the song, after he is caught red-handed and even after he has been photographed.

Take, for instance, the ticklish incident that took place in Nairobi’s Komarock Estate recently. A man only identified as Kamau left neighbours in stitches after he pleaded insanity when his wife caught him red handed in the act with the house girl.

The woman of the house, who had travelled outside Nairobi to celebrate Christmas, came back unannounced and found the man in the throes of passion with the maid in the living room.

Shouting gibberish

Upon realising that he had been caught literally with his pants down, the man jumped off the sofa and started shouting incomprehensibly. So convincing was his act that the woman, who initially was seething with rage, was duped into believing that indeed her husband had gone mad.

To show the ‘seriousness’ of his insanity, he banged tables, scattered tablecloths and pieces of paper all over the room as the housemaid got a chance to run to her bedroom.

The wife followed the maid to her room and, instead of reprimanding her, pleaded with her not to leave them since she understood the state of her husband.

She went on to blame unknown people for bewitching her husband who, according to her, had always been very faithful.

They took the man to hospital where he was admitted for two days before being discharged. Kamau would later tell his buddies that the ‘insanity’ was a well-executed act, which had occurred to him on the spur of the moment.

This is not the first time a man has pulled such a strange stunt after being busted. Some time back in Nairobi’s Umoja Estate, a pastor with an evangelical church blamed the devil for leading him astray when he was caught enjoying stolen moments with his deputy’s wife in a bush.

As his angry cuckolded deputy hurled insults at him, the ‘man of God’ begged for forgiveness promising never to allow the devil to win him over again.
