A city athlete landed in court for allegedly stealing his neigbour’s sheep.

The court heard that on January 5, Joseph Ng’ethe stole a sheep worth Sh6,000 belonging to Chute Ali, while it was grazing at his Embakasi compound.

It is alleged that Ng’ethe waited until Ali was out of sight before he took off with the sheep.

Neighbours who saw him reportedly alerted Ali, who reported the matter to the police.

In court, Ng’ethe denied the charges claiming “I am a professional athlete in Nairobi and I usually go jogging between mid-morning and afternoon.  On the material day, I was doing my exercise near the complainant’s home when the sheep crossed the road and neighbours thought I wanted to steal it.”

Ng’ethe was set free on a Sh15,000 cash bail. His case will be heard on April 10.
