A man has withdrawn a petition against the Ugandan Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) over Rema Namakula’s new lover, Dr Hamza Sebunya.

Rema, who has a child with award-winning Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo, has moved on and is ready to get married barely 6 months after her romance with the Sitya Los hitmaker ended.

However, her wedding to Dr Sebunya was challenged by a fan on the grounds that he had broken the professional and ethical code of conduct by contracting a marriage with his patient, Namakula.

In a twist of events, the petition which was tabled before AHPC has been withdrawn.

According to Daily Monitor, in a September 13 letter addressed to the registrar of AHPC, Mr Nambaale, the petitioner, through his lawyers revoked the petition saying he had lost interest in the matter.

“Reference is made to our earlier letter dated September 11. Our client has unequivocally and expressly instructed us to notify your good office as we hereby do that, he has lost interest in the matter,” the letter partly reads.

In the earlier petition, Nambaale had claimed that Sebunya, who is said to have been Namakula’s gynaecologist at Mulago hospital, took advantage of her and started a relationship.

“As a fervent believer in the rule of law, our client has drawn our attention to the fact that he has learnt through the press and social media that during the subsistence of Mr Edirisa Musuza a.k.a Eddie Kenzo and Ms Rema Namakula’s relationship, the person who was a doctor to Rema Namakula one Dr Sebunya Hamza has contracted marriage with her which our client believes constitutes professional and ethical misconduct,” the letter read in part.

Eddy Kenzo and Rema separated in April this year after allegedly Kenzo revealed that he was not ready to settle down with her.

Being a Muslim, Kenzo further said that if he is to marry, he will settle with more than one woman.

“I cannot rule it out. If I say no, tomorrow I could get a second or third woman and you will return here to remind me that I said I will never. However, right now I have one and I am okay.”

Through a series of social media posts, Kenzo has already wished the best of luck to her former lover and prayed she finds happiness in her new marriage.
