Top teachers rewarded for stellar performance in national exams

Teachers from schools that excelled in last year's national examinations were honoured yesterday as Kenya celebrated World Teachers' Day.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recognised their outstanding performance and dedication to nurturing the next generation.

For the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam, Jackson Yebei from AIC Kaptich Primary School in Nandi County was the standout educator.

His school achieved the top position nationally in last year's exam, a testament to the hard work of both students and educators.

Mr Kiplimo received well-deserved recognition for his commitment to academic excellence.

John Kanga from Masimbani Primary School in Kwale County secured the second position nationally, while Emily Tanui from ACK St Luke Primary Biribiriet in Nandi County clinched third place.

The fourth and fifth positions were awarded to Sammy Sawe from Bishop Muge Memorial Primary in Nandi County and Amos Chumba from AIC Cheribisi Primary School, respectively.

In the secondary schools category, Nyambaria Boys Principal Charles Onyari emerged as the top school head nationally.

He was recognised for his exceptional leadership and commitment to providing quality education.

Albert Ombiro from Cardinal Otunga Boys secured the second position, followed by Linet Sati from Asumbi Girls.

John Kuria from Mang'u High School and Simon Masibo from St Antony's Boys in Trans Nzoia clinched the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

In the private schools category, James Ireri from Kitengela International School in Machakos, Christopher Odero from Crystal Hill Academy in Kericho, and Geoffrey Mwangi from Kitengela International School in Kajiado emerged as the top three.

They were rewarded for their dedication to fostering a nurturing and academically enriching environment for their students.

For private secondary schools, the spotlight shone brightest on John Muthiora from Strathmore School, Erick Toneni from Rockfields Senior School in Kajiado, and Elishebah Cheruiyot from Moi High School, Kabarak in Nakuru.

They were honoured for demonstrating unwavering commitment to academic excellence and character development.

TSC Chief Executive Nancy Macharia said that the celebration of these educators would serve as inspiration to all, even as she highlighted the crucial role teachers and school heads play in shaping the nation's future.
