NAIROBI: Alliance Boys High School has a reason to celebrate as it marks its 90th anniversary this Sunday.

The school reigned supreme yesterday after it registered 200 A grades in last year’s KCSE results.

The school, which had a total of 346 candidates, only had one student with a C+ grade.

Principal David Kariuki said the school had been the first to accomplish such a fete with most of the grade ‘A’ students scoring 84 points.

“Our target was to achieve 200 grade As and a mean score of 11.2 and I think we achieved it. We are now targeting 300 As come next year’s results,” said Mr Kariuki.

The elated principal attributed the success to discipline and hard work by both teachers and students.

MADE MERRY

John Kago, 18, a former student at the school was elated upon receiving news that he had scored a straight A of 82 points.

He could not hide his joy as he celebrated and made merry with his parents and teachers at the institution.

The former entertainment prefect said he aspires to be an economist so as to correct the mishaps in the country’s economic system.

He said that his inspiration comes from retired President Mwai Kibaki.

“I am who I am today because of my teachers. Their work was exemplary and that is why I have always performed well,” said Kago.

His father, Phililip, was reeling with joy as he congratulated the son, saying he had expected him to perform well since he had always done so.

He advised parents that besides paying fees, they should also be emotionally available for their children in order to set them on the right path.
