Machakos CCU gubernatorial candidate Nzioka Waita today received a major boost when more than 10 MCAs from different parties crossed over to support his bid.

The MCAs, who comprised five from Maendeleo Chap Chap led by Kangundo West ward rep Titus Kaloki, termed Waita as the best-suited candidate for the seat who had what it takes to liberate the county.

Other defecting MCAs from Wiper, Jubilee and ODM parties resolved to launch a door-to-door campaign for Mr Waita in the few remaining days to the polls.

Addressing the meeting that was conducted at the Nzioka Waita campaign command centre in Machakos town, Mr Kaloki termed Deputy Governor Francis Maliti's decision to abandon Waita as inconsequential.

Maliti recently stepped down as Waita's running mate and resolved to back Wiper candidate Wavinya Ndeti.

"As much as our deputy governor opted to cross over to support Wiper candidate, we decided to throw our weight behind Waita who has a brighter vision for our county compared to his competitors," said Kaloki.

Welcoming the leaders, Waita assured them and the entire people of Machakos that he will not fail them.

He said time had come to liberate Machakos County from poor leadership that had denied its people its rightful share of development.
