Thirty (30) people accused of pickpocketing and mugging Meru Town residents will be paraded for three consecutive days to allow members of the public identify suspects who stole from them.

The 30 will be paraded at the Meru Police Station from Tuesday to Thursday.

The suspects were arrested on Monday, May 24 in a police-led crackdown on petty offenders within Meru Town.

Police on Monday successfully applied to hold the suspects for three days to allow members of the public identify, from the group, the persons who stole from them.

Meru Resident Magistrate Edward Tsimonjero granted police their request.

North Imenti Sub-County Police Commander Laban Omol said the crackdown on petty offenders within the town would continue.

The suspects are expected back in court on Friday, May 28, with the ones, who won’t have been positively identified by members of the public, set for unconditional release.
