Showgoers at the just concluded Nakuru Agricultural show were treated to a bizarre and rare spectacle when an angry camel attacked a security guard who tried to separate it from its mate.
Mr Bishar Ibrahim lost part of his ear and suffered several broken ribs when he interfered in the camels’ private affair.
Bishar was manning a panya route some youth were using to gain illegal entry into the fair that was next to the camels’ holding ground.
To try and position himself better, the guard decided to drive the animals to the far end of the field. However, all hell broke loose when he approached a female camel, which the owner said was on heat, prompting its partner to charge at him.
Moving swiftly, the incensed animal knocked down Bishar who fell on his stomach. With the man at its mercy, the camel bit his left ear hard, leaving the helpless man bleeding profusely.
Onlookers could only watch helplessly as it kicked Bishar with its massive hooves, causing him to lose consciousness. A fellow guard then rushed to the rescue and scared off the camel before dragging his colleague to safety.
