Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard at an entertainment joint in Juja, Kiambu County.
Police said the suspects were arrested hours after the attack at Midnight Gardens where the guard was killed as he attempted to repulse the armed gang.
The criminals switched off electricity and disconnected a standby generator before tying the guard with a rope and killing him using a power-enhanced metallic club.
Kiambu County police commander Michael Muchiri, said officers recovered crude weapons including a toy gun, which the gang used to terrorise revelers during the 4am incident on Monday.
The robbers managed to steal assorted brands of alcohol before they were arrested by police who laid the ambush after a tip-off.
One of the suspects reportedly operates butcheries in Ruiru and Utawala.
The stolen alcohol was found loaded in a Toyota Noah vehicle with fake number plates. "We have been trailing these criminals for some time," said Muchiri.
Jeff Wachira, a manager at the entertainment joint said they had incurred huge losses amounting to over Sh1 million and the CCTV installed at the entertainment joint aided in the arrest of the suspects.
Kimbo MCA Ngatha Wambiri who responded to the distress call of the bar attendants called on the government to heighten security in the area and provide the police with a patrol vehicle.
"Such crimes have been on the rise in the recent past. We urge the entrepreneurs wishing to establish similar entertainment joints to embrace technology in order to deter such incidences," he said.
