Four traffic police officers were arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Sunday morning in Matuu, Machakos County.

The officers are accused of soliciting bribes from motorists along the Matuu-Mwingi road.

According to a police report, the EACC officers, led by Mr Emmanuel Amuga, ambushed the traffic police patrol team under the command of Inspector Deborah Ngila around 10 am.

They arrested Sergeant Christine Chebon, Constable Robert Kabiru, Constable Rosemary Nyokabi and their in-charge, and took them to an undisclosed location.

The police report did not specify the amount of money or evidence recovered from the suspects.
