Huduma Kenya now says that services to process National Identification (ID) Cards have resumed, following a system downtime.

The processing of the national documents including ID cards, police clearance certificates, self-help groups certificates, and driver's licenses had been delayed due to a system failure.

According to a release on Friday, August 18, the institution assured that the processing of the other documents will also resume soon.

"Following discussions with National Registration Bureau (NRB), ID card services have fully resumed. Discussions are still ongoing with the relevant Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to soon normalize the other services," said Huduma Kenya.

Additionally, the institution reminded Kenyans to collect their unclaimed documents to reduce the backlog.

"This backlog includes 135,071 identification cards, 53,189 birth certificates, and 42,652 driver's licenses."

Huduma has also assured citizens that it is putting in extra effort in a bid to enhance the accessibility of government services through its centers and digital platforms.

Currently, the government in close partnership with Huduma is working on digitising all their services through the e-Citizen platform, for ease of access.

The government has set September 30 as the deadline to onboard all services.
