Embu ready for Madaraka Day, says CS Kindiki

Embu County is ready to host Madaraka Day celebrations with Interior CS Kithure Kindiki giving a thumbs up to the renovations at the Moi Stadium.

Speaking when he inspected the facility, the CS expressed optimism that the remaining renovations will be completed soon with an inspection scheduled 10 days before the event.

He noted that the purpose of decentralizing and hosting the celebrations across the country is to promote national unity and cohesion while partnering with the county governments to improve the infrastructure at the regional level.

"This will help counties have standard facilities that can host international events. As Kenya positions herself to host various sporting events, the facilities will help us in bids for the same," Kindiki said.

The stadium is being renovated at a cost of Sh300 million, under the supervision of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Area governor Cecily Mbarire noted that the Department of Trade and Tourism had done its best to boost the hospitality industry while urging visitors to visit Embu County's website to look at the available hotels.

Mbarire observed that the President will launch several projects while in Embu key among them; the international sports city and ASK Njukiri showground and the construction of 500 affordable housing units.

"We are very excited to welcome all visitors to Embu on June 1 and assure them that we are prepared to host them," Mbarire added.
