Lonyangapuo says respect for multi-party should not be enslavement

The Kenya Union Party (KUP) says respect for multiparty is not the enslavement of members.

The party also says Azimio should stop using Jubilee and KUP as an excuse to resume their protests.

John Lonyangapuo, KUP leader was responding to former Kakamega governor, Wycliffe Oparanya's statement saying that the respect for multiparty should not be equated to the enslavement of members.

In a statement by Lonyangapuo on Monday, the former governor stated that despite respect for multiparty, Azimio should not equate it to enslaving members.

"As stated by Oparanya, the respect for multi-party should be paramount. But that respect should not be equated to the enslavement of members. The excuse for calling the protests under the guise of high food prices further exposes the hypocrisy of our opponents. " Lonyang'apuo said.

Oparanya recently issued a statement that drew reference to the respect of multiparty democracy and stated that the Azimio protests will resume on May 2, 2023.

He said that the resumption was prompted by the Kenya Kwanza coalition's failure to commit to holding constructive bipartisan talks.

Lonyangapuo on the other hand in his statement said that the call for the resumption of the protests is founded on falsification and that exposes the coalition to sabotage the current government.

"The statement by the former governor to resume anti-government protest is founded on misrepresentation of facts and innuendo that exposes the Coalition of anarchists for what it is and that their singular agenda remains to sabbotage the current Administration's transfirative agenda for the nation." Read the statement.

Referring to the addition of Eldas MP Adan Keynan to the Kenya Kwanza bipartisan team, who is claimed to belong to Azimio, Lonyang'apuo says that the opposition has equally included David Pkosing, Pokot South Member of Parliament in their team.

"While Azimio is laying claim on Jubilee's Keynan, thcy have equally included Pkosing a member of KUP. "
