CS Murkomen offers to support a gospel artist who asked him to buy her a car

Mercy Jerop asked CS Murkomen to buy her a car to support her ministry.

Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has responded to gospel artist, Mercy Jerop who wrote a placard asking him to buy her a car.

On the placard, Jerop stated that she needed a car to aid her gospel ministry.

"Please Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, buy me a car to aid my ministry," read the Placard.

On his official Twitter handle, Murkomen said that he was open to supporting her re-start a small business to turn finance her gospel ministry.

The supposed artist had claimed that she got a setback in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that the two arrived at a decision after realising that a business would be more beneficial to Jerop.

"Mercy was a hairdresser who likes many other entrepreneurs suffered a major setback in 2020 because of Covid. We have discussed how I can support the revival of her business. We have agreed that even though a car may be important for her ministry," Murkomen said.

"It's better to support a sustainable business that can finance her gospel ministry in the long run"

The gospel artist's plea went viral on social media and attracted mixed reactions from netizens who urged the CS to grant her her wish.

Kipkemei, one of the netizens on Twitter replied: "Good move Waziri...Jerop is an amazing and great artist"

Koech K Bett, a Kenyan on Twitter also replied: "Pure wisdom. Sustainability is key."

"Stop beating around the bush and go straight to Mercy's need which is a car," another user Senior weighed in on the issue.
