A teacher on duty at Poroko Secondary School in Narok County was beaten by two students from a visiting school during a live set performance.
The students, who are from Kilgoris Boys school, were part of five learning institutions that had converged at Poroko Secondary School for the live performance.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the teacher, Fred Machokaa, had urged the two boys to disperse after he found them in a compromising situation with a female student.
"The seemingly agitated boys descended on the teacher with blows and kicks, prompting students from Poroko to come to his aid.
"As a result, students from the visiting school began throwing plastic chairs and pieces of rocks at their hosts, provoking chaos that left three students seriously injured and property of unknown value destroyed," said DCI in a statement.
Following the scuffle, three students were seriously injured and property of unknown value destroyed.
"Two students who suffered head, neck and chest injuries were admitted at a private hospital in Nyangusi, while a third was treated at Kilgoris sub-county hospital where he was treated and discharged," said the investigative body.
Police officers from Kilgoris police station responded to calls of distress following the melee but had a difficult time trying to contain the situation.
Police have launched investigation into the matter.
