In the last five years, Kenya has reported building tragedies involving about 87 buildings.
These tragedies have left over 200 people dead and 1,000 injured.
According to data from the National Building Inspectorate, 65 per cent of the collapsed buildings were residential, 25 per cent were commercial and 10 per cent were of mixed-use developments.
Some 4,000 houses were found to be unsafe for human habitation in the country and recommended to be demolished.

SEPTEMBER 2011: VIHIGA

Heavy rains brought down building in Vihiga
JUNE 2012: MLOLONGO

MARCH 9, 2016: ZIMMERMAN

4-storey building collapsed. No one injured.

APRIL 29, 2016: WALL ON NAIROBI'S LENANA ROAD
A house that collapsed in Huruma killing 51.
Number of people killed: 51
Number of people missing: 10
Number of people injured: 140
6-storey building located in Ngei, Mathare, Nairobi, collapsed following heavy rainfall.
JUNE 3, 2016: HURUMA ESTATE
No casualties.
The collapsed 7-storey building was marked for demolition, occupants vacated.
NOVEMBER 10, 2016: KISII BUILDING AT DARAJA MOJA
