The High Court in Nairobi has directed Sports Kenya to allow Deputy President William Ruto's UDA hold its final presidential campaign rally at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, August 6.
Sports Kenya had written to UDA, saying the venue won't be available to the party because it had been booked for peace concerts between August 5 and August 7.
Protesting the decision to lock them out of Nyayo on Saturday, UDA officials moved to court to challenge Sports Kenya.
On August 1, Justice Joseph Sergon directed Sports Kenya to allow UDA use the venue on August 6 pending a petition filed by the party.
"An interim order is granted suspending the implementation by the respondent (Sports Kenya), its servants, employees, agents, successors, assignees or anyone withdrawing the availability of the suit premises (Nyayo Stadium) to the applicant (UDA) on August 6, 2022 pending the interparty hearing of the aforesaid motion," said Justice Sergon.
Raila Odinga's Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party will hold its final rally at the Kasarani Stadium on August 6.
