Residents of Bondeni in Kitale town yesterday found a body of a 14-year-old boy suspected to have been sexually assaulted.

The boy was found lying half-naked with bruises on his back. Blood was also coming from his nostrils, mouth and private parts.

Area Chief Evans Wamalwa said the boy's body was found lying near River Nyangau by children who had gone to swim.

There were claims that the boy, a learner at Kaloleni Primary School, was sexually abused before being killed.

"I got information from the public that a body of a young boy has been found by children near the river," Wamalwa said.

He said they suspect that the minor was sexually molested before being killed.

"We condemn the act and we are appealing to the public to volunteer information to help us apprehend the culprits," said Wamalwa.

This is the second incident to happen in the area and residents have pointed fingers at a gang which they claimed operates near River Nyangau.

"We are urging the government to mount a crackdown on gangs in the area," said a resident.
