Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga is ahead of Deputy President William Ruto in the August 9, 2022 presidential race, a TIFA poll shows.

The Trends and Insights Africa (TIFA) poll released on Friday, July 29, indicated that Odinga enjoys a popularity rating of 46.7 per cent against Ruto's 44.4 per cent, ten days to the election.

The survey results were released at Heron Portico Hotel in Nairobi.

TIFA said Odinga had support from five out of nine key regions, while Ruto led in two key regions.

Most respondents supporting Ruto's bid said the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate appealed to them with his manifesto on economy.

Odinga's supporters, on the other hand, said his passion for devolution endeared him to them.

Roots Party candidate George Wajackoyah enjoys a popularity approval of 1.8 per cent, while David Mwaure of Agano Party has 0.1 per cent.

The undecided voters, ten days to the polls, are 5.2 per cent.

The opinion poll also indicated that William Ruto's UDA Party was more popular in the country (41 per cent) than Raila Odinga's ODM Party (34 per cent).

The survey also asked the respondents on what they felt about President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.

The disappointed group said they were unimpressed by Kenyatta's economic legacy, while another faction said how he treated his deputy, William Ruto, in Jubilee administration's second term blighted his legacy.

The respondents filed their feedback through mobile devices, TIFA said.
