Police have recovered a pistol, cash and clothes allegedly belonging to robbers caught on CCTV cameras robbing a woman at gunpoint in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
The robbery incident occurred on Sunday, June 12 at 2am at the woman’s home on Gataka Road.
A total of five armed robbers accosted the victim as she drove into her homestead, broke her car windows, ordered the victim out of the car and thereafter frogmarched her into the house, where they stole her items, including electronics.
“Following the cruel attack, molestation and subsequent robbery of a family in Ongata Rongai recently, police mobilised in real-time and continue to conduct an in-depth investigation into the heinous crime with [the] objective of bringing to book all those involved in the planning and execution of the robbery with violence,” Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso said in a press statement on Wednesday, June 15.
“To date, four suspects have been apprehended and aiding police with further investigation. So far, they are cooperating, and they shall be arraigned as per the law.
“In due course of the investigation, detectives have recovered one pistol; make Browning, some cash money proceeds of the robbery and items of clothing worn by the robbers on that fateful night.”
Shioso said security patrol and surveillance in Ongata Rongai has, consequently, been increased.
“The Inspector-General [of Police Hillary Mutyambai] has instructed a crackdown within the areas and environs of Ongata Rongai targeting organised criminal gangs terrorising and robbing law abiding locals.”
