Chief Justice Martha Koome has gazetted 26 judge position vacancies, with the Court of Appeal seeking to recruit six, while the High Court seeks to add 20 more judges.
The interested candidates should submit their applications through the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) jobs portal – https://www.jsc.go.ke/index.php/careers.
In the gazette notice released on Friday, March 11, the Chief Justice said successful candidates for the position of High Court judge will earn a gross monthly salary of between Sh657,000 and Sh1 million.
Those, who will bag the Court of Appeal judge positions, will pocket a gross monthly salary of between Sh1.12 million and Sh1.16 million.
All applicants interested in either Court of Appeal or High Court judge position, must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognised university.
For the Court of Appeal job, applicants must have at least ten years’ experience as a superior court judge or at least ten years’ experience as a distinguished academic, or legal practitioner.
For the High Court job, applicants must be a professionally qualified magistrate or have at least ten years’ experience as a superior court judge. Alternatively, they should have at least ten years’ experience as a distinguished academic, or legal practitioner.
Other requirements include high moral character, integrity and impartiality, high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, good judgement, wide breath of both legal and life experience, and commitment to public and community service.
In the gazette notices – numbers 2529 and 2530 – Koome did not reveal the deadline for applications.
