Over ten counties drawn from the Coastal and Northern regions are set to benefit from relief food from Kuwait.
This is after the Kuwait government dispatched an airplane with 40 tons of relief food as part of the mitigation efforts to alleviate the drought situation which has been experienced in the said regions.
The plane landed at JKIA on Tuesday and was received by the Kuwait Ambassador to Kenya Qusai Rashed Al Farhan in the company of senior government officials.
The relief food includes rice, sugar, cooking oil, salt, milk and dates and is set to benefit some 6200 households in the counties of Kilifi, Lamu, Tana River, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit and Turkana among others.
The food is expected to sustain the areas for the next two months.
