December 7, 12.30am: Imbatu and his girlfriend, identified as Carol, get to their rented house in Kangemi's Mountain View Estate after she closes a bar the couple co-owns
1am: Gunshots are heard from Imbatu's house. A neighbour informs officers at the Kabete Police Station. A few minutes later, the couple’s house catches fire. Imbatu is later seen parked outside the Kabete Police Station in a white Probox
1.30am: The Kabete Police Station informs the Nairobi Area Control Room of the incident. Officers from the Nairobi Area Crime Intelligence Bureau are deployed to help track down Imbatu
1.45am: Officers manning a roadblock near the Kabete Police Station join the hunt for Imbatu, who by this time had shot a deejay and a bread distributor 200 metres from the station. Imbatu begins to walk home and comes across two boda boda riders responding to a distress call, and shoots them and a pillion. He begins to fire indiscriminately
3am: Imbatu shoots himself after police officers and boda boda riders corner him.
In total, he discharges 26 bullets
