Sensational Tanzanian singer Zuhura Soud alias Zuchu tops the list of YouTube most-watched music videos, 2021, thanks to her sentimental song Sukari.
The song, a popular hit that made the 28-year-old a household name across the region has so far registered 59,987,000 views on YouTube since it was released in January, this year.
Her other hit song Nyumba Ndogo was also featured among the top ten videos of the year.
In a list that revealed that Kenyans are leaning more towards Tanzanian music videos, Yusuf Kilungi aka Mbosso’s Baikoko, featuring Diamond, came second (with 29,000,000 views) followed by one of Kenya’s hottest collabo Kinda Love, done by Jacob Obunga aka Otile Brown and Juliet Miriam (Jovial) with over 13,000,000 views.
Like Zuchu, Mbosso made a double in the top ten music videos with Yalah coming number eight with over 12,000, 000 views.
Wilson Radido aka Willy Paul had his Liar video, featuring Miss P, rated fourth in views, as the popular Ndovu ni Kuu by Brian Ouko aka Khaligraph Jones, Mwebia Munene aka Boutross and Christopher Githara aka Krispah coming fifth.
Others included Shamra Shamra (Joefes, Mejja and Mbuzi Gang), Running (Chike and Simi) and Wanyamazishe (Rose Muhando).
The YouTube End Year List consists popular videos uploaded and watched on the platform in Kenya, that giving a perspective of what Kenyans have been watching all year.
Besides music, the list included Breakout Creators and Top Shorts Videos, new categories made to reflect new trends in the entertainment scene.
TT Comedian topped the Breakout Creators list followed by Mungai Eve, Thee Pluto Show, Terence Creative and Lynn Ngugi. Small Prince, World of Africa TV, SwagBoyQ, Twins From Russia, Candy Platter, Daniel LaBelle were listed as the Most Viewed YouTube Shorts Videos.
The reveal was made as the second edition of Africa Creator Week, a programme that seeks to showcase and support content creators from across the continent, came to a close.
