The Ministry of Education has approved the construction of a Sh800 million engineering block to host students pursuing TVET programmes at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha said the complex would be built in three phases over a period of three years, with Sh100m already disbursed for the initial phase.

“The Ministry is glad to know that the university council has also generated Sh70m towards the project in this financial year,” the CS said.

In a speech read by Ambassador Simon Nabukwesi, the Principal Secretary for State Department of University Education, Magoha also urged universities to embrace reforms.

Nabukwesi was speaking during the MMUST 16th virtual graduation ceremony, where 1,775-odd students were conferred with various certificates.

University chancellor Dr Peter Muthoka also hinted that the institution’s management had resolved to bring to an end internal conflicts that had derailed the installation of a vice-chancellor.
