Detectives are following leads on the abduction of a Nyeri businessman outside his shop two days ago.

The abduction of Gerald Giandaru comes a year after he was acquitted after being charged with trafficking in wildlife trophy.

Preliminary investigations show that two other people were abducted a day after Giandaru was kidnapped 10 metres from a barbershop he owns.

The two other men whose identity the police have not disclosed were kidnapped in Kieni West on Wednesday evening.

According to police records, the two were in the company of four others, and were travelling from Ndaragwa to Narumoru.

Only two were picked by the kidnappers and their whereabouts are unknown.

Ali Ahmed, the Kieni West police commander said they are also investigating the abduction of the two.

“We received reports of two relatives who were abducted on their way to Narumoru, at Kieni Dairy area.

“We do not have any leads yet in relation to their kidnapping,” said Ahmed.

It has also emerged that Guandaru was arrested in a similar manner in May 2017, and charged with being in possession of a wildlife trophy.

He was later acquitted due to inconsistencies in the evidence provided by the prosecution.
