The family of a KDF soldier who was killed when bandits raided a military camp in Baringo last week is crying for justice for their kin.

Danson Lokipetot was described as the sole breadwinner of his family that hailed from Turkana North.

The attack came days after the Regional Coordinator George Natembeya announced resumption of operations in the area.

According to the deceased's step-mother Susan Ekipetot from Lokitaung area, the deceased had been supporting the family.

"My son was our family's breadwinner. He gave us hope. Now that he is gone, who will rescue us from sliding into poverty?” she posed.

Further, the family lamented that they had not received any official communication concerning the death of their son.

The family is now calling on the government to bring to book the killers of their kin.

“We need justice to prevail because we can't remain silent about this matter. We need the government to show us who killed him,” said the family.

They noted that the deceased had bravely served in the KDF mission in Somalia, and wondered what may have gone wrong in Baringo that led to his death.

Philemon Ekipetot, the father of the fallen KDF man, who is also a retired soldier, is in Kitale planning his son's burial.
