Top boy eyes Mang’u High, pilot career

Samuel Wanyonyi, (pictured) who emerged among the top four candidates nationally, wants to join Mang’u High School.

Wanyonyi, who scored 431 marks, told The Standard that he wishes to become a pilot.

“I thank God for the marks I got. I also appreciate the efforts of my teachers and the support from my colleagues and the community,” he said.

His mother Irene Makheti said she was grateful to God and for the support from teachers.

“He was in Class Four when his father died in a road accident. We thank God he has been able to score the marks he got,” she said.

Makheti described her son as hardworking and disciplined.

Nzoia Sugar Primary School head teacher Lydia Namisi, who was posted to the institution in 2016 when Wanyonyi was in Class Six, has all along supported him.

"I took care of his personal effects and we provided for him and paid his school fees, pocket money and clothing,” said the head teacher.

Bungoma County Executive for Roads Collins Mukhongo offered to cater for Wanonyi’s needs, including paying school fees up to university level.
