Mudavadi takes a swipe at Ruto, Raila, revamps ANC elections board

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto for whining over leadership of Jubilee party.

He also hit out at ODM leader Raila Odinga for flip-flopping on matters corruption.

Mr Mudavadi said it was unbelievable to see a deputy party leader admit that his party has been hijacked by brokers, con men and busybodies.

He made the remarks while presiding over the swearing-in of the members of ANC elections board.

Tough times

He challenged his supporters to brace for tougher political times ahead, adding that the revamping of ANC party from the grassroots has already started giving competitors sleepless nights.

The new National Elections Board (NEB) under the party’s new constitution ratified a few weeks ago, will be tasked with planning, organising, coordinating, conducting and supervising the party’s primaries and nominations.

In addition, the board will be tasked with developing and maintaining a register of members eligible to vote in party elections.

Mudavadi told Kenyans that the ideologies of ANC are centred towards ensuring their lives are made better moving into the future.

“You will be tasked to help us go through the elections and nominations not just within the framework of the party but even later when now we are dealing with the candidates to represent the party in various organs in this country.

“We have to systematically start showing people that we are actually the government-in-waiting. Very systematically that is what we should start showing them,” said Mudavadi.

The members sworn in under various capacities have been urged to help in popularising the party countrywide, with face of ANC party expected to change soon as the party strives to regain a national outlook with recruitment of members going on in various levels.

“We have just begun, we are just scratching the surface, since the events that are going to unfold in this country now and in the build-up to the 2022 General Election, will be very earth-shaking and they will require prayers and steadfastness from us individually and collectively. You have entered the deep end and we all have to start swimming from the deep end,” Mudavadi told the new team.

The ceremony also saw the swearing-in of members of the Internal Disputes Resolutions Committee and members of the Internal Disciplinary Committee.

Salim Busaidy will chair the new NEB, Harriette Chiggai will head Internal Disputes Resolution Committee, Captain Abdi Yare will steer Disciplinary Committee while Dan Ameyo will lead the Constitutional Implementation and Legal Compliance Committee.
