Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday said the ban on the sale of alcohol in eateries is a blessing in disguise since the money can now be channeled towards more useful things.

While giving the daily Covid-19 update, CS Kagwe said he was also a fan of the famous ‘Kagwe Special’ but will now use the money to do other things at home.

“Some were so used to the bottle…you should thank God that this pandemic will prevent you from going to the bar.

“Use the money to buy things at home. Check what your wife and children need,” he said.

On the question of individuals across the country not using masks, Kagwe said everyone is aware of the dangers of Covid-19 and it is up to individuals to take responsibility.

The Health CS also revealed that there had been two cases of doctors who traveled and later tested positive but had refused to quarantine themselves.

Kagwe said one of the doctors wanted to perform surgery on a patient but was reported by a nurse.

He urged doctors to practice self-responsibility saying their discipline is key to containing the virus especially in health facilities.

The CS also revealed that 634 health workers had tested positive so far but said the number is quite low compared to other parts of the world.

Kagwe maintained that there are enough PPEs in the country and any shortage reported might be attributed to poor management and distribution.
