There’s a doctor who tested positive but wanted to continue seeing patients — CS Kagwe

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday revealed that there had been two cases of doctors who traveled and later tested positive but had refused to quarantine themselves.

While giving the daily Covid-19 update, CS Kagwe said one of the doctors wanted to perform surgery on a patient but was reported by a nurse.

He urged doctors to practice self-responsibility saying their discipline is key to containing the virus especially in health facilities.

The CS also revealed that 634 health workers had tested positive so far but said the number is quite low compared to other parts of the world.

Kagwe maintained that there are enough PPEs in the country and any shortage reported might be attributed to poor management and distribution.

While opining on the video of a medic claiming to have a cure for Covid-19, Kagwe said not every doctor is an expert in matters Covid-19.

“When quacks speak, we respond as if we are speaking to doctors, qualified to speak on matters medicine.

“The biggest mistake is imagining that if the person is called a doc…they are experts in everything,” he said.

This comes as the country announced 544 new cases. Out of the 544, 340 are male while 204 are female.

Unfortunately, 12 lives were lost in the last 24hours taking the number of fatalities to 311.

Kagwe also asked young men to be careful saying no one knows the long-term effects of the virus.

113 more patients were discharged taking the cumulative number of recoveries to 8021.
