Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula have asked leaders from Western region to stop frustrating their efforts of seeking the presidency.

Speaking yesterday at the home of Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba, Mudavadi said the Government had made it a routine to block their meetings whereas other leaders like Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, are accorded full security.

Police had earlier tried to scuttle the meeting, bringing it to a stand still for over three hours.

As this went on, Oparanya and Wamalwa were holding a similar meeting at Kibabii University with elders and teachers from Bungoma County, where they continued with their push to gain control of Western region politics.

Mudavadi and Wetang’ula were meeting elders from the Tiriki and Bunyore sub-tribes.

The ANC leader read malice in their travails, citing a case where police had lobbed teargas at Wetang’ula’s previous meetings at his Bungoma home and Malulu Injendi’s home.

“All over the country, leaders are meeting to discuss the agenda for their regions, but when we meet, police officers block us, saying we are contravening the Covid-19 regulations. Is it only us that do not know our rights?” Mudavadi posed.

“We are here in Emuhaya holding our solidarity meeting peacefully, while our counterparts are at Kibabii with over 400 teachers and no one is disturbing their peace. Let the security officers not only target us.”

Mudavadi said their supporters are not fools and are watching keenly how they are being victimised.

MPs present at the meeting included Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga Woman Rep), Alfred Agoi (Sabatia), Ernest Ogesi (Vihiga), Ayub Savula (Lugari), Titus Khamala (Lurambi), Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Catherine Wambilianga (Bungoma Woman Rep), Christopher Aseka (Khwisero), Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale), Mwambo Mabonga (Bumula), Janet Nangabo (Trans Nzoia Woman Rep) and Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza).

Mudavadi said ANC and Ford Kenya were being targeted unfairly because of their focus on 2022 politics and their aim of going for the presidency.
