A 42-year-old wedding planner was today arrested and presented before a Makadara court over the murder of Penina Wairimu, 36, in 2019.

David Migwi was, however, not required to plead to charges when he was presented before Makadara Chief Magistrate Heston Nyagah in the afternoon.

The court allowed officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations 14 days to question Migwi and conclude their investigations.

Wairimu, a single mother of three, was last seen alive on the night of April 26 last year.

CCTV footage shows her walking out of a club in Nairobi’s central business district in the company of a light-skinned lanky man.

Wairimu’s dismembered body parts were found dumped in different parts of the city, including the Dandora dumpsite and along Landhies Road. The police used DNA analysis to identify her

Her murder echoes that of yet another woman’s in the capital city, which the police now believe are linked.

Neighbours handed over Wairimu’s children to Child Welfare Society officials in Nairobi after they failed to trace any of her relatives in Nairobi.
