Mothers’ Day: Ruto pens special message to mum, women

Deputy President William Ruto took to his Tweeter account on Sunday to pen a heartwarming Mothers’ Day wish to his mother Sarah Cheruiyiot and other women.

In what looked like a love letter from a son to a caring mother, the DP described his mum as s special gift to him

"Dear Mom, You are a special gift to me. You will always have a special place in my heart,” Ruto tweeted on Sunday.

The DP did not leave other women out and wishing them all the best on a special day.

“Through you, allow me to pay special tribute to our mothers on this special Mother's Day.”

Ruto said it was indeed a blessing to have good-hearted women who have not only raised up their children but also empowered them.

"We are incredibly blessed to have women who have raised us, loved us and empowered us. We are immensely indebted to our mothers for shepherding us throughout our lives and for their big hearts that continue to sustain us," his message reads in part.

The DP, in his special message, thanked his mother and all other mothers for love, support, prayers and strength to their children.

"Thank you for nurturing me. Thank you for praying for me. You are my strength. Happy Mother's Day to you and all our mothers around the world," his emotional note further reads.

He accompanied the message with a photo of him and his mother.

Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May.
